This weekend while visiting K1 in Springfield I thought I'd surprise her by making Rice Krispie Treats. While trying to decide between the 13.5 oz box of Rice Krispies or the 19 oz box I heard, "It's K2!". Surprised, I turned around and low and behold it was Hillen and Wife. We had a nice little chat there in the cereal aisle of the Wal-Mart Super Center on Glenstone. You just never know who you'll run in to!
Anyways, they were telling me that Sky likes to use Fruity Pebbles instead of Rice Krispies. Yummy! I'll most certianly have to try that one the next time.
So, I'm wondering if we could come up with enough variations to publish a cookbook titled, "The Metamorphosis of the Crispie Rice Square". Any suggestions?
Also, in the conversation I discovered that Sky and I have something in common that most people don't... we don't like chocolate! Sky...I've not met you yet, but I already like ya!

Ode to Audrey

"Audrey: A Life in Pictures".... i bought this amazing book at b&n for my coffee table. the colors on the cover perfectly match my decor. it totally ties the room together. i'm oh so happy. i want to invite people over... just to see my book on my coffee table... so does that mean i'm pathetic? or maybe just superficial? or maybe i just enjoy the little things in life? i dunno. no, i'm leaning more toward the pathetic, superficial thing.
so, i'm sitting here. eating a burnt grilled cheese sandwich. blogging. and watching dukes of hazzard on tv. i love the voice of the narrator. is that uncle jesse? i dunno. anyway, i burnt my sandwich so that's sad. but it's ok cuz i can wash it down with a fresh peach. thanks, dad, for sharing the peaches with k2 and me. it hits the spot... cuz the spot was hungry! *LOL* that's an inside joke... dad always says that...
"peaches, peaches... my nose itches... somebody's coming with a hole in their britches" yep. that's something my granny shahan always said. i have no idea what it means. it's actually kinda silly, but that's ok. it makes me smile becuase it makes me think of her.
wow. this is way random. what do (1) audrey hepburn, (2) grilled cheese sandwiches, (3) the dukes of hazzard, (4) peaches, and (5) granny shahan have in common? that's right...they're all in my blog. holy kow.

Brunette...the new blonde???
I went to the music store the other day and had to do a double take when I saw the poster for Faith Hill's new cd. I almost didn't recognize her as a brunette. What's up with that? Then I was watching tv and saw commercials with both Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelley Preston as brunettes. They look so different. In my opinion they look better as blondes. Has the brunette thing ever worked for a blonde? Most of the ones I can think of have gone back to their blonde roots!
Which famous blonde will be next to join the brunette world...Dolly Parton, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Simpson, Pamela Anderson, Anna Kournikova, Kelly Rippa, Gwen Stefani???

Bored in Branson
Ok, that sounds a little like "Sleepless in Seattle". I've really never been bored in my entire life. Maybe it comes from my mom saying if she ever heard us girls say we were bored she'd give us something to do.
Don't get me wrong, I'm saying very busy with work (which I love) and planning K4's wedding (which is fun). But with most of my friends gone during the summer I don't really have anyone to hang out with in the evenings and weekends.
Luckily I have a wonderful sister who lets me stay with her in Springfield on the weekends! ;-) Springfield... what a fun town! If the drive to Branson wasn't so long and if gas prices weren't so RIDICULOUS I'd consider living there and driving to Branson to work.
Most of the people I have hung out with the past 2 years in Branson have either moved or have/are getting married. I can still hang out with them, but it's just different now that they're married. I feel like the odd man out. So Springfield may just become my new weekend home-away-from-home this year!
Springfield, MO... here I come!!!

The Road Trip & Seinfeld
Ok, so I recently spent a lot of time on the road... riding to the Outer Banks, NC and back. I guestimate around 40 hours in all. I mean, what are you suppose to do? You can only do so many crossword puzzles and sleep so many hours before cabin fever sets in.
So, since I had some time I though I'd reaquaint myself with an old sit-com favorite... SEINFELD!!!
Of course, since I was listening via headphones the others in the vehicle thought I was crazy, having these sudden outburst of laughter. They just looked at me as if I was on something. So, thanks to Jerry and the gang, for making a LONG road trip a little more bearable!
Since we're on the subject... I think I'm going to need some help convining K1 that she'd love Seinfeld it she'd only give it a chance! It really is the best!

Kreepy, Kreepier, Kreepiest

I do believe that Hide and Seek is the kreepiest movie I've seen in years! I skreamed at least 4-5 times. And I still feel kinda kreepy...
Movies are kreepier when you watch them in your own home. Or at least that's my opinion. If you get skared in a theater, you can walk out and leave "the boogie man" behind. However, if you meet "the boogie man" while you're sitting in your own living room... yikes. There's nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.
And now that the movie is over... and my friends have left... it's just me... (I hope...)
Come out, come out, whereever you are... (kreepy!)

Vakation to North Karolina
I just got back from a vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was great spending a week on the beach! Best part of the trip... (besides coming back with a nice little tan), when I was body surfing and turned my back to the ocean to talk to the rest of the guys on the shore. Yep, I didn't see the wave coming right behind me and it turned before I got under. It churned me several times sending me straight to the ocean floor, sand filling my suit. When I finally came up I couldn't open my eyes because of the salt water and thought my top had come off and that I had just flashed everyone. They assured me that didn't happen! :-) But only they will ever know the truth! It might be awhile before I try body surfing again! Coughing up sand all day wasn't much fun! For sure I'll pay more attention next time!
Things I learned while on vacation:
#1 Don't turn your back on the ocean... it has a mind of it's own!
#2 Old men really, really, really shouldn't wear speedos!

Let's give a Bloggy welkome to... K2!!!
As the eldest K, I would like to welkome my sekond-born sister to Kronikals! She will be joining my bloggations (I just made up that word, and I like it!). Stay tuned for K2... she just got back from a road trip to the beach...
Firekrackers!
Ok, so today is the 4th of July. Happy Independence Day! Next year, I'm going to celebrate the day by doing something very independent (rather than the traditional celebration of patriotism). Any suggestions? This year was traditional...
Here's how I spent my day...
PART 1 - Lounging around my parents' house with my parents and my sisters. Topics of conversation included: K4's wedding; laundry; scheduling upcoming holiday celebrations.
PART 2 - Soaking up the sun while hanging out with K4 and her in-laws-to-be at their pool. Also, eating. Meal included: steak, baked potato, broccoli and cauliflower salad, krab* salad, and "Yum-Yum". (*indicates crab salad made by K1 & Keith)
PART 3 - Sitting in the parking lot of High Street while watching James River's fireworks show. It was just my "Stile". (That would be... with the Stiles family... *LOL*)
PART 4 - Blogging. Checking e-mail. Watching "Windtalkers" on A&E. Chatting with Hillen. Eating leftover krab salad. Chatting with K2. Blogging more.
and coming up... PART 5 - Shower. Sleep.
